Purpose
The EODA Business Development and Marketing committee is charged with promoting our sixteen county region through a strong network of local, regional and statewide economic development professionals. Our activities include conducting retention and expansion studies, wage and benefit studies, export education, trade shows, industrial site promotion, and maintaining a strong web presence.
Summary of Committee Activities:
• Our primary activity in 2009 was to conduct a comprehensive redesign of the EODA web site. As the internet has evolved, so have the marketing strategies of economic development organizations. The new site is professionally designed as an interactive tool that enhances the economic development efforts of our membership. It does this by providing a refined appearance, timely information and data that is easily accessed and highly pertinent to the user.
• Industrial and Commercial prospect activity is referred to counties within the region.
• One industry was informed of the "Gold Key" program, then referred to the U. S. Commerce Department. This company is now successfully exporting to Canada.
• Counties are notified of exporting, trade show, and webinar opportunities.
• OSU is using the EODA regional BR&E program as a promotional marketing tool.
• EODA has a seat on the OSU --SWANK Organization advisory committee. This organization provides solutions for improving the quality of life in Ohio rural communities.
• The popular "Excellence" awards are presented in three categories at the annual meeting.
Summary of Proposed Committee Activities:
• Web site training will be available to the EODA membership to more effectively market the sixteen county region.
• An updated Brochure will be developed to more effectively promote membership and market the region. This will also be included on the EODA web site.
• Industrial and Commercial prospect activity will be furnished appropriate counties within the EODA region and state of Ohio.
• Counties within the region will continue to be informed of exporting, trade show, and webinar opportunities.
• "Excellent" awards will continue to be presented at the EODA annual meeting.
• This committee will welcome new projects and ideas to help advance a positive future for our region.
