Instructions for using the Board Room

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARTICIPATING IN AN EODA ON-LINE MEETING
Here’s how it works:

GETTING INTO THE MEETING ROOM
1. Connect to the Internet using your local dial-up connection and load your web browser as you normally would for "surfing" the ‘Net.

2. Go to the EODA web site at http://www.eoda.org and click on the "boardroom" button on the front. This should take you to the http://www.eoda.org/boardroom.htm address.

3. Enter a unique nickname for yourself where it indicates nickname is needed. (Unless you are a TalkCity.Com member already, do not enter a password.) If you enter the same name as someone else, you will be rejected so pick a unique name, like "EODAHileman" for example.

4. Click on the "Enter Board Room" button to be taken into the meeting room.

5. If you have successfully connected, you will be in the room called "EODA" on TalkCity.Com.

CHATTING IN THE ROOM
6. Instructions are there for how to proceed. The basics are that you type your information in the lower center box appearing in your browser and click "send" button on the right hand side when you have completed typing your message. Your message will then appear for everyone to read.

7. Messages will appear on the screen in the order they are typed. It should flow like a normal meeting just without face-to-face contact and without that full-day drive across three counties behind a coal truck and two Sunday drivers.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG . . .
8. One of the problems that could occur is that you try to enter the room with a nickname that is reserved for someone else’s use. Pick a unique name.

9. If you have entered the meeting room at a designated meeting time and no one is there or your screen is blank or all gray in the middle, then try hitting the "reload" button on your web browser. If that doesn’t work, then go back and repeat the above steps.

10. If you get disconnected from the room or from the Internet, just start over.
