EODA Board Meeting Minutes - 10/20/09

 
The following is a summary of the minutes from the recent EODA Board Meeting held at The WILDS on October 20, 2009.

Todd Shelton was approved as an EODA Board Member from Athens County. He replaced Jennifer Simon who faithfully served for many years.

James Jackson, Consultant reviewed a proposed EODA website update.  This major project is coordinated by Arnold Oliver and the Business Development/Marketing Committee.
 
Mary Kaufmann, Muskingum University was appointed Co-Chair of the Education/Technology Committee. Norm Blanchard was recognized for his many years of service.
 
Greg DiDonato & Ed Tester, OMEGA discussed the Broadband proposed stimulus funding involving 32 counties in the Appalachia Region.
 
Chris Abbuhl, Government Affairs Co-Chair discussed State Issue 2. A resolution was passed by the EODA Board supporting this issue.
 
The proposed Health Care Reform Bill was discussed by Jeanne Wilson, (Senator Brown Rep.), Nick Gatz, (Senator Voinovich Rep.) and Mike Calevski, (Congressman Space Rep.)
 
Tricia DiFranko with the Governor's office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives reviewed the Governor's Call to Action Plan.
 
Mike Jacoby, OEDA President Elect reviewed OEDA activities proposed for 2010.
 
The EODA six major sponsors including Columbia Gas, Holmes County, Buckeye Power, AT&T, Ohio Power and Dominion E. Ohio were recognized for their outstanding support of the EODA organization.
 
EODA Officers and Board Members unanimously elected.
 
Mike Kachilla, President Cambridge Chamber discussed the SCORE program. Mike will be starting new employment with Mount Union University effective January 2010.
 
Volunteers signed up to serve on various EODA committees.
 
An EODA Executive Board Meeting is scheduled Tues. Jan 12, 2010 @ Ravens Glenn.
 
The next EODA Board Meeting is scheduled Tuesday Jan. 26, 2010 @ Salt Fork Resort.
 
EODA ANNUAL MEETING is scheduled Friday April 30, 2010 @ Carlisle Village Inn
Walnut Creek--Time 10:30 am.  Gov. Strickland is invited as Key note speaker.

Bill Sams -- Executive in Residence, Ohio University Outreach discussed the WIRED grant for Tech initiatives in S E Ohio.  He also reviewed eTech Ohio Commission activities.  Bill Sams is also a member of the Ohio TechAngel Fund.
